Innovation Without Compromise: Bandaging Effectively with StrappyWrap

At Honos Nutrition Co., we’re passionate about horses, science, and doing the best we can do for our horses, while empowering others to do the same. The goal of our collabs is to support like-minded individuals and convey the importance of compassionate, evidence-based horse care, while coming back to the passion & curiosity that is driven by the love of the horse. This week, we're excited to chat with Faith from StrappyWrap, an innovative product that is blowing up in the equine world.

How did your business get started? Was there a specific horse who sparked inspiration?

The drive for creating StrappyWrap started from two things. My first horse Summer, had chronic lameness issues from being diagnosed with navicular at a young age and eventually developing DSLD in her later years. Comfort and soundness were prioritized as long as possible, therefore, significant leg care maintenance and preventative measures were a focus to ensure this. One of those being keeping her hind legs wrapped overnight, but the struggle was always making sure I could be at the barn at night(I boarded at this time) or she wouldn’t be wrapped because generally the barns I had been at had very little barn staff that knew how to wrap or it simply wasn’t an option with the length of time it takes. Similarly, during my time as a barn manager and groom, there were various horses in my care that needed daily wraps and the same issue arose. It was the absolute worst thing for me to not always give the level of care that the horses needed and I believed there had to be a way to make sure we never have to compromise on something as important as leg care. StrappyWrap became the solution that offers standing wrap level compression with quick and easy application, ensuring horses always receive the necessary care.

Why are evidence-based practices important to you?

Evidence-based practices are important in horse care because they help ensure safe and effective methods. They can prevent injuries, support good nutrition, improve training, and make sure horses get the right medical care. But every horse is different, and sometimes you have to pay attention to what is or isn’t working for them. Using proven approaches as a guide, while also listening to the horse, helps owners make the best decisions for their horse’s health, happiness, and overall well-being.

How have horses shaped your love for learning?

With horses you have to love learning and keep an open mind. Not only do we have to learn the basics of all aspects of horse care, but also the individuality of every horse. You have to have the ability to ask questions and be curious about all the information that is out there. What worked for one horse, may not work for another, so you are continuously on this journey of learning new ideas and tricks. I love the constant push to do better, really listen to what each horse shows you they need, and exploring what it takes to keep them as happy and healthy as possible.

What advice would you give your younger, horsey self?

Take as many opportunities as you can. Work at different barns, shadow professionals in all aspects of the industry, go to educational, events, etc. It goes back to that learning when involved with horses is endless, soak up all the knowledge that you can!

What has been the most rewarding part of starting your business/developing this product/incorporating this practice?

The most rewarding part is hearing our customers share how StrappyWrap has transformed their horse care. It gives them peace of mind, knowing their horse isn’t missing an essential part of their care. It has also boosted the confidence of those who feel uneasy about traditional wrapping and empowered individuals with physical limitations to wrap their horses independently again. I am so thankful for all of the stories of how StrappyWrap is impacting others.
